  4.         WSSINDEX  is  a  program  for indexing  a  collection  of  disks. 
  5.         Complete  documentation (about 60 pages long) for all programs in 
  6.         the  package  is found in file WSSI405.DOC.   The  public  domain 
  7.         program   CUTPAST3.COM  which  is  also  supplied  has  its   own 
  8.         documentation  in  file  CUTPAST3.DOC.    Users  upgrading   from 
  9.         previous  versions  should  look at the file BUGLIST.DOC  to  see 
  10.         what's been added or fixed.

  12.         After  extraction  from the distribution  disk,  any  files  with 
  13.         extension DOC (and any others except COM, EXE and CNF files ) are 
  14.         documentation files.  You can view them in several ways using DOS 
  15.         commands:

  17.              1. PRINT filename        (output goes to printer)
  18.              2. TYPE filename         (output appears on screen, probably
  19.                                        too fast to read)
  20.              3. TYPE filename | MORE  (output to screen, pausing when
  21.                                        screen fills)
  22.              4. TYPE filename >PRN    (output goes to printer)

  24.         Documentation   files  are  formatted  for  66  lines  per  page, 
  25.         including top and bottom margins.   If you don't have  continuous 
  26.         form  paper  in  your printer,  or if you just want to  read  the 
  27.         documentation  on  screen,  you  can load  the  files  into  your 
  28.         favorite word processing program.  If you use a word processor to 
  29.         print  the  DOC files,  you will probably want to tell it not  to 
  30.         insert  blanks  at  the beginning of each  line  since  this  has 
  31.         already  been  done,  and  you may need to adjust  your  margins.  
  32.         Vernon  Buerg's LIST,  or PC Magazine's BROWSE program  are  also 
  33.         convenient  for viewing the DOC files on screen because they  let 
  34.         you rapidly move forward and backward through a file.

  36.         If  you  see garbage characters on the screen  (arrows,  ['s  and 
  37.         numbers) when you try to run the program,  you should read  about 
  38.         configuring  to  use  direct  video writes in  the  Overview  and 
  39.         Tutorial chapter, or about ANSI.SYS in Appendix A.
